Frequently Asked Questions
Does the App upload my contacts or messages?
No. Caller Name Announcer Pro reads your contact names and incoming call / SMS details on your device only to speak them aloud. We do not upload your contacts or message content to our servers. The App does include advertising and analytics partners (Google AdMob, Firebase, Adjust, and Meta) — see our Privacy Policy for exactly what each one processes.
Announcements stopped working — what should I check?
First, make sure the required permissions are granted in Settings → Apps → Caller Name Announcer Pro → Permissions (Contacts, Phone, and — if you use SMS Announcer — SMS). Also confirm your media/notification volume isn't muted and that "Silent mode support" in the App settings matches how you want announcements to behave.
Announcements don't work when the App is closed or in the background.
Some devices from Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung, and OnePlus aggressively kill background apps to save battery. To keep announcements reliable, disable battery optimization for the App: Settings → Apps → Caller Name Announcer Pro → Battery → Unrestricted / Don't optimize, and enable "Autostart" if your device offers it.
Why does the App need SMS and Contacts permissions?
Contacts lets the App match an incoming number to a name so it can announce "[Name] is calling." SMS permission (optional) lets the SMS Announcer read incoming messages aloud. You can revoke either at any time in Settings → Apps → Caller Name Announcer Pro → Permissions — the related feature will simply stop working.
How do I change the voice, speed, or repeat count?
Open Announcer Settings in the App. There you can adjust speech speed, set how many times an announcement repeats, enable silent-mode support, and choose vibrate options. Voice output uses your device's built-in Text-to-Speech engine, which you can configure in Android Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech.
The flashlight alerts aren't blinking.
Make sure the Camera permission is granted (the flash is part of the camera hardware) and that no other app is currently using the flashlight. Flash alerts work best when the screen is off or the device is face-down.
Is the App free? Are there in-app purchases?
Yes, the App is completely free to download and use. It is supported by ads and currently has no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
How do I stop personalized ads?
You can reset or limit your Advertising ID and opt out of personalized ads in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by device). Where a consent prompt appears, you can also decline personalized advertising there.
